What is auto sensing on a washing machine

Auto-sensing mode in an Amana washer is designed to ensure efficient water usage by determining the appropriate amount of water required for each load.

By utilizing sensors, the washer assesses the size of the load and adjusts the water level accordingly.

This feature helps to stabilize water usage, preventing situations where the water level is too low or the washer stuck on sensing fill. As a result, you may observe that the wash load is not entirely submerged in water during certain cycles, which is a normal behavior when auto-sensing is active.

How does Amana auto sensing mode work?

Many users don’t know what is auto sensing on a washing machine. Also, why it is not working due to not filling the correct water level.

Amana Washer auto sensing mode

When initiating a wash cycle, the Amana washer with auto-sensing mode goes through a series of steps to determine the appropriate water level for the load:

  1. Lid Lock Self-Test: Upon pressing the Start button, the washer performs a self-test on the lid lock mechanism. You will hear a click sound, the basket will make a slight turn, and the lid will briefly unlock and then lock again. This step ensures that the lid is securely locked during the wash cycle. If you Find any issues then you can troubleshoot the lid lock bypassing also reset lid lock of Amana washer.
  2. Load Size Estimation: After the lid lock self-test, the washer uses short, slow spins to estimate the size of the load. These sensing spins can take approximately 2 to 3 minutes before water is added. During this time, the washer assesses the weight and distribution of the load to determine the optimal water level.
  3. Water Addition: Once the load size has been estimated, the washer moves the load briefly, pauses to allow water to soak into the load, and then resumes adding water. This process may repeat multiple times until the correct amount of water has been added to the load.

Turns out, they press on the start button and then expect the washer will be operational just after that.

But the heck is– it won’t work in that way or immediately after pressing the start button

Amana Washer Auto sensing mode not working?

Amana is an amazing washer that comes with auto sensing mode. However, the Amana washer auto sensing not working after using it for months or years.

But thankfully, it ain’t tough to fix it.

Here I will describe how does the auto sensing mode actually work.

You need to wait at the same time you need to load the water level as well.

The auto sensing mode work by the following steps:

  • You will press on the “Start” button
  • The washer will perform the self-test on the lid lock
  • Once it will get working then you will hear a CLICK SOUND
  • After that, the basket will turn slightly so the lid will unlock for a while
  • Now on, it will start spinning in order to justify or estimate the loading size
  • Such spinning is called sensing spin (part of auto sensing mode) which take for 2 to 3 min
  • The washer will start moving and also give a short pause to allow water to soak into the load
  • It will resume meanwhile, it can add water
  • Until, it will add adequate amount of water, the sequence will come to repeat one after another

Here you got your back, right? That means, if the water level is too low to get started soon then it may cause a break to start. What you assume as Amana washer stuck on sensing fill.
